Axiom Side x Side: Riding into the Future Showcasing Kawasaki’s Newest Mule Pro-FX, Pro-FXR, and Pro-FXT Models
Powering these new models is a robust Kawasaki-built 999cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke parallel-twin engine, meticulously designed to deliver significantly increased power and torque. The engine tuning prioritizes low-mid torque for enhanced drivability and low-speed control. With a bore and stroke of 92.0 x 75.1mm, this fuel-injected engine surpasses its predecessors in both power and torque, elevating the Mule Pro series to new heights.
Complementing the powerful engine is a sturdy chassis, long-travel suspension, increased ground clearance, and updated front face styling. Select models also feature Kawasaki’s innovative self-leveling suspension, ensuring the vehicle stays level even when fully loaded.

Axiom Side x Side: Upgrading Off-Road Adventures in Response to the Polaris Ranger XD 1500
As revealed in Field and Stream’s article “First Look: 2024 Polaris Ranger XD 1500,” the world of side-by-side UTVs has been progressively erasing the lines that once separated pickup trucks from dedicated off-road vehicles. Polaris, a leader in the industry, is set to take this transformation even further with the new Polaris Ranger XD 1500. After nearly seven years in development, Polaris is branding this new Ranger as the workhorse of their lineup, a title it proudly carries with more horsepower and torque than many thought possible in a UTV.
To gain an in-depth understanding of this off-road marvel, I had the privilege of spending a few hours behind the wheel of the new Ranger XD 1500, tackling a variety of terrains at the renowned Three Forks Ranch on the Colorado-Wyoming border. Here’s my honest review after putting the machine through its paces in the unforgiving high desert.
Meets the Challenge
The Ranger XD 1500 may not appear vastly different from Polaris’ standard XP 1000 models at first glance. However, appearances can be deceiving. The “XD” in its name stands for “extreme duty,” and it lives up to that moniker. While it maintains the same width and similar height, the new machine is slightly longer and significantly heavier. The difference might not be readily apparent until you see the XP and the XD side by side. The XD is essentially a Ranger on steroids, with an A-arm suspension, larger shocks, beefier tires, enhanced bumpers, and a more spacious bed box.

Axiom Side x Side Explores the Unprecedented Power of Polaris RZR Pro R Factory
As illuminated by Maxim’s article “THE POLARIS RZR PRO R FACTORY IS THE MOST EXTREME UTV RACER EVER,” the realm of side-by-side racing witnessed a groundbreaking revelation that pushed the boundaries of excitement to new heights. Riding shotgun in a UTV alongside a seasoned off-road racer, I experienced the relentless assault on rugged terrain in the Mojave Desert, leaving me exhilarated yet slightly queasy.
The UTV, none other than the Polaris RZR Pro R Factory, defied conventions and outperformed any other model currently available. At highway speeds, we soared over whoops that would challenge even the most robust vehicles, navigated through treacherous rock formations, and effortlessly cruised across sand flats at almost 100 mph. For someone with limited experience on unpaved terrain, the heart-pounding ride left me with a surge of adrenaline and a swirling stomach.
Cayden MacCachren, one of the esteemed drivers on Polaris’ Factory Racing Program team, controlled the UTV—a true force to be reckoned with. The introduction of this program marked a historic moment in motorsports, with Polaris leading the charge in the creation of the first-ever UTV-class factory racing initiative. This innovative program comprises a purpose-built race UTV and a manufacturer-backed team dedicated to its success.
The term “Factory” is more than a label; it signifies a new era in UTV racing. While other UTV race teams modify stock UTVs independently and garner varying degrees of manufacturer support, Polaris has shifted the paradigm by introducing an all-encompassing factory racing program.
The impetus behind this trailblazing endeavor is evident. Independent teams supported by Polaris have already clinched numerous titles, including an overall victory at the 2022 Baja 1000—the pinnacle of the SCORE World Desert Championship. Polaris envisions that its factory racing program will not only elevate the manufacturer’s winning rate but also establish dominance in UTV racing on all fronts.
